Scatterbrain

This post was written a few weekends ago, and sortof abandoned. Just so you know, and aren't wondering about the timing on it.

I find that it has been difficult in the last year to find the good things in my life. Jobs always suck, people suck, car sucks, weather sucks, friends suck [sometimes]... Family is good, always, of course. But today, I found that there is still some good that can come from my young life. I am still very young, and I need to start living that way. It's silly to be 23 and feeling like a 30 year old. I have a lot of life ahead of me, and it's time I started living like a 23 year old and keeping that 30 year old maturity. So sometimes I have belching contests with myself in the car, So what! Any 30 year old can have that kind of fun, right? Right?

This weekend, I was inspired to sculpt something. It's been a long time since I've sculpted anything, so it was a little rocky. I feel bad though, because mom gave me the money to buy clay (the expensive bake in the oven stuff) and my sculpture turned out nothing like I had hoped. I'm just not any good anymore. I think I rushed myself, which tends to happen, and I was getting frustrated because I didn't have enough clay to do as much as I wanted. So I feel bad. I'm bummed. It looks like a high school kid did it, but I just don't know how to make my vision.

So I decided to paint it. It's taken me a few days, somewhat of an oddity since i usually rush through it to try and get my idea out on canvas/clay/paper. I'm happy with it right now. I can't wait to finish it. But I have a whole Tropical Depression/Storm thing to get through, so I'm pretty stoked. If you're wondring what it is, it's Pele. Not the soccer player, the Volcano Goddess. Maybe I'll post a pic of the botched clay project and the hopeful painting.

Something else happened to me. My friend called the local theatre company and told them I'd be interested in auditioning. So they set up a special audition time for me September 10th. So I have a month to get my voice back into the shape. It's been 5 years since i've stopped singing, and it has been about 5 years since i've stopped acting, and i've got a month to try and learn a monologue and piece of sheet music and not suck at it. I want to do well at this, but it's so stressful right now because of everything that is happening in my life. Plus, I don't want to disappoint my friend, or the theatre company, and I want to do a good job. I know, I know... I shouldn't worry about them, but anyone who knows me knows that i'm a perfectionist in all senses of the word, except when it comes to cleaning my room. Ha ha ha.

So, now this Tropical Depression [or TS or whatever it is] is coming this way and I have plenty of time to try and get my shit in a pile and work some aspects of my life out. I just hope the power doesn't go out. It's hard to paint by candlelight (and although most great painters did it, I'm not great, and I don't see that well.) Anyhoo, it's 2:30am, and I need to go to sleep. Peas out homies.

Can

"Eighty-five times he's pushed his disabled son, Rick, 26.2 miles in marathons. Eight times he's not only pushed him 26.2 miles in a wheelchair but also towed him 2.4 miles in a dinghy while swimming and pedaled him 112 miles in a seat on the handlebars--all in the same day."

And if you don't mind a country music song for 4:14 secs, this is a real tear-jerker. Truly a wonderful thing.

Home Is Where the Smoke is...

Casper mountian, the mountain I grew up looking at morning after morning after morning, has caught fire. It's pretty bad, from what I'm reading... and seeing...

Links to some pictures of what the mountain looks like now are here, here, here and here. Let's all hope the firefighters get some rain to help them out.

And E Shall CONQUER

Sometimes, there are moments in our lives where we are so great, it defies words. I heard, I moved, I conquered...

Was sleeping peacefully at Steve's house, (yes i was sleeping) when, suddenly, about 3:45AM, what do i hear but "CHIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRP.....(breath)....CHIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRP....." Then, a slight beep, like a car alarm. "WEEEOOOWEEEOOO BEEP BEEP BEEP." only the beep beep part, in a chirp type fashon.

I came flying out of bed. "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT" I say to my sleepy counterpart. To me, it sounded like it was in the damn house. He says, "shit I don't know. Go find out." Ah, just like my dad. (My mother will attest to this. Buglar in the house? Send the wife.)

So i head out to the living room and look for whatever is making that noise. Luckily, i'm in my underpants and a tubetop (pants were not necessary, finding and killing the noise was.) Can't find anything in the house, but I hear it coming from outside, LOUDLY. So, I step outside. Since it's a nice night out, i step out in my underpants and tube top with no thought to the weather, but i'm sure the neighbors are all quite interested in my pink underpants. And since the back porchlight is now on, and i'm standing in the middle of the back patio with no cover and in the pool of light, i'm REALLY sure they are interested in my pink underpants trying to elimante the noise that is bothering them as well.

So I think... How do you eliminate something you cannot see? Just like you eliminate two dogs making that "HRUH HRUGH" noise. The hose. I stand there and consider. Hm. A hose. I have to step off onto the dirt that is Steve's yard right now. So i tiptoe off and i find the spigot which is about 3 steps around the corner from the patio. Ok, give me a break here. It's now almost 4:00AM, I turn the spigot on thinking i could find the source and pick it up and spray. Yeah, found the source, it was attached to a sprinkler pointed right at the yard i was standing in. Yipes! Turned that off as fast as I could. Unscrewed the sprinkler from the hose, and turned the hose back on. And i hear the chirp laughing. "CHIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRP....(breath)...CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP...... sigh Ok. SO i get the hose-a-going and I'm spraying, and the chirping begins to kinda studder. Then, i see the offending cricket jumping. I run after it and spray the shit out of that bastard.

ah. silence....

"CHIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRP...(breath)... CHIRRRRRRRRRRRP" So after a few creative swears that may or may not have involved monkeys, I start spraying all around the little concrete slab that is steve's patio. THEN, i spot the little bastard. It's a little brown frog. He does not like to be wet. So i spray right on top of him. Not trying to kill him, trying to move him- closer to the neighbors house. Spray- hop- Spray- hop - spray -hop hop hop hop. HA! He's now jumping over to the other side of the house, away from the bedroom window where the unbrave sleeps, and I have VICTORY! I sortof stand there for a second watering the lawn, thinking how much steve really needs grass seed (his lawn is dead) and then remember oh yeah. Pink underpants. I tiptoe back to the spigot, turn it off, and get my feet wet and go back to bed.

About 20 minutes later, the cricket is back. but this is the crickets wife. "Don't take heem aye Luv heeem!" CHIRP CHIRP. This time, i let steve take care of it. He chooses to turn on the stereo in the living room (on a sleep timer of 30 minutes) to drown out the little wife's sobs of sorrow with some other noise. Nope. She likes to sing along with the radio. It takes me 5 minutes longer than the music was on to fall asleep.

But she did finally shut up.

Two minutes before I fell asleep.

Damn nature.

This may be one of my last posts with blogger because I have been having so much trouble posting pictures. I will try and keep you updated with the results.
